SHEEP OFF SITE: Thursday 4th March

We took the sheep off site this afternoon. It looked as though Mrs Brown was going to give us the runaround but thankfully we outsmarted her!

Thank you all for your help over the last few months. Apart from lameness it has been relatively uneventful which is always nice with livestock!!

Wednesday 3rd March

Unexpected extra visit due to a delay in moving the sheep.50 counted. Most of them were lying down spread out in the big field. Two were limping slightly(front left) but otherwise looking good.

Tuesday March 2nd

While perhaps somewhat academic as I understand today’s the day for the sheep to be moved off Barton meadow, I went to check on them this morning. Very grey and chill there today in stark contrast to recent days . They were all in the eastern section spread out in the rough grass and up the south facing slope . All 50 accounted for . One with a slight limit although I couldn’t get the number . Otherwise seemingly no issues . Not much enthusiasm for eating today though . Troughs fine and gates and fences ok. Four roe deer seen in the western section .

Monday 1st March

A lovely, bright day. Had a nice chat with a Welsh gentleman about the reserve, modern farming and rugby.

Sheep all present and correct, except 00047 who was not putting weight on their front left leg.

328 was very friendly and it turns out has very soft cheek wool, unlike the rest of the wool which is deceptively horrible.
