Tuesday April 25th

The 12 cattle were in the long grass area , well spread out over the eastern end thereof around the kink in the footpath. All of them grazing well and looking fine . As has been rccenrly reported a few have small bald or balding patches but nothing too serious and 44’ s bald patches don’t seem to have increased.  Their trough is fine and is working properly. Seven roe deer seen .

Mon 24th April

They were spread out across the entire field today, I only had time to look closely at 6 of them, unfortunately no.44 with brisket irritation wasn't one I was able to get to. I did notice however that no.86 was has an itchy midriff on the right hand side.

Apologies for missing the last two weeks due to holiday. Back to a cold Friday, at least all 12 cattle seemed to be ok, not as miserable as me anyway. Grazing in the North Eastern corner of the field.

Thursday April 13th

With apologies for the late post , all was well in Barton  meadow this afternoon . The 12 were clustered around the gate at the northern end of the median fence line when I arrived . They quickly dispersed though and spread out across the top of the long grass area of their field . All of them grazing industriously and looking well . That is apart from 126 who remained behind by the gate to have a really good scratch on the metal gate post . He looked fine too and clearly  relished the opportunity to have the post all to himself ! Seven roe deer seen on the north facing slope of the large field .

Tuesday April 11th

The cows has two visits today one from Sam of the trust staff who had been called out in response to a report of some blood on one of the animals and one from myself. By the time I got there there were no sanguinary traces probably because the unceasing downpour has washed them off if they actually existed . As far as I could see all the cows were fine albeit looking more than a little damp . They were all clustered in the corner by the main gates staring rather gloomily at the passing traffic . Otherwise no issues

Thursday April 6th

The 12 cattle were grazing briskly across the south facing slope of the large field , just below the long grass area . All looking very well and full of energy . While I was theee it started to rain hard whixh then turned to hail. This prompted all the animals to start walking very purposefully down towards the gates . When the hail redoubled in intensity their walking pace turned into a headlong charge down the slope . Not quite sure what this was all about but they certainly seemed to enjoy themselves ! No deer seen . Doubtless they had anticipated the heavy rain showers and sensibly taken shelter somewhere.

Happy Easter and have a good weekend
