Tuesday 27th May

A damp morning. The 3 remaining cows have opted to stay in the eastern meadow despite the gateway being open and calmly grazing in the centre. Are they wondering where their mates are?!

Fence gates and water troughs okay.

Lots of ox-eye daisies in flower in the meadows along with the pretty pink dog roses in the hedgerows and bramble flowers - early blackberries this year?

Friday 23rd

I did not check the blog before I went and didn’t have my phone with me, so after I finished panicking about only finding 3 cows, I realised I did not leave the gate open as Sam had asked.

However, three cows in the field, perfectly happy. The latch on the gate at the top of the worthy road field had come off, I don’t know if that is known or not. Didn’t get a photo, as I had forgotten my phone.

Friday 23rd may

Hi all

6 cows taken off site. Leaving 3 to remain for a couple more weeks.

I left the central race between the two fields closed. Can someone open it so the cows have free roam of both compartments please?

I'm on leave for 2 weeks now. Any issues call my phone and you'll be directed to a member of staff.

Thaks for your time

Sam

Monday 19th May

Quick perimeter check from me. All okay.

Cow check, all 9 cows cudding in the smaller western field, most got up for me and seemed in fine condition.

Whitethroat singing in central hedgeline and skylarks all around, plenty of common blue butterflies as well.

Nice to see the meadow showing a bit more of a floral display now!

Got a few work parties planned carrying out these tasks:

-  Removing bramble and/or clematis off the fence line to increase fence longevity

- 40 intermediate posts to replace on site

- Some sycamore and creeping thistle control along the southern set aside

- Replacing the rail and slip rail by the race between both fields

- Replacing the two failing wooden gates south of the reserve

- Path clearance for access

Cows should be taken off site this Friday. Will confirm once it has happened.

Thanks for your time,

Sam

Tuesday 13th May

A beautiful morning- though very quiet. All 9 cows calmly grazing in the middle of the eastern meadow. Water and gates okay. A single roe deer in western meadow. Very little litter today.

Friday 9th

Apologies, I’ve been very bad at posting my reports. I’m not going to make it this week due to work overrunning, but I will try to pop by tomorrow morning if I can.

Tuesday 6th May

All cows in eastern meadow laying down chewing cud. Water and gates fine. Skylarks and blackcap in full voice.  Lovely to see so many more cowslips in flower while we have been away. Chilly wind and no sun - didn't  see any butterflies on the wing this morning.
