Tuesday 23rd June

I went out to top the paths again today. The meadows are looking great, the ox-eye daisies are going over now but that allows you to see the other flowers underneath which were being hidden! Lots of butterflies out on the wing, a few small torts and lots of marbled whites and meadow browns.

The scabious is coming out in the set aside areas and there are a few pyramidal orchids as well - some of the biggest I've ever seen! It all looks wonderful :)

Today we conducted the RCA at Barton Meadows. There were 35+ species present which is amazing. Here are some pictures...

Thursday 28th May

The oxeye daisies are coming in their masses! Looks like there wont be as many as there was last year.

Had a wander through the meadows and there is broomrape which I have never seen before- most likely knapweed broomrape.
