Monday 16th Feb
The original 3 were seperate from the rest in the early morning but when I had a walk into the field to check, at lunchtime, they were all together and seem to have settled in well. Persistent mooing from one of them has stopped.
I did notice one was scratching themself on the back of another, mentioned to my brother (Farmer) and he said we should ideally have some trees around the field for them to scratch themselves on, I wondered if this has been considered at all?

Saturday 14/2/26
A beautiful sunny day. All 12 cows were at the lower end of the meadow and came to have a closer look at me while I was checking the trough. As I walked back up the hill so did they. It was lovely to see them all in the sunshine. All calm . EF working well.
Lots of birds- 2 red kites, a buzzard, sparrows, robins , great tits and a flock of goldfinches. 3 roe deer in the western meadow.
The one above still has electronic tag. Must be on community service.Friday, February 13, 2026
Friday the 13th
A double check in today, how exciting for the cows! Went earlyish today when it was misty, cows were grazing up at the top of the hill near the houses. Someone was walking by and their dog was (peacefully) nose to nose with one of the new cows - who seemed to be enjoying the attention! These new boys seem quite friendly, the owner of the dog was giving him a bit of a pat on the nose and he seemed to love it (the cow AND the human).
As Sheila said, trough looking healthy, and EF seems to be working fine.
Friday 13th
12 cows all looking relaxed.EF working. After my perimeter walk I realised I can hop over the wooden fence and walk between the hedge and barbed wire fence to check the trough. All good.
Lots of skylarks

Cows all appear fine, congregating at the Southern end of the field. I only saw 3 cows, so assume the others were added after my check.

Friday 6th
Three cows. Rain. Cold.
EF seems to be working fine, but I didn’t linger as one of the cows started shouting at me and then the group started to take steps towards me, so I left pretty quickly. Wouldn’t call the behaviour aggressive, but it didn’t feel particularly friendly.
